2010 - Doctorate of Education, Walden University

2005 - Master of Arts, Piedmont College

2001 - Bachelor of Science, State University of West Georgia

1996 - High School Graduation, Northwest Whitfield High School

This is my 16th year in education. I have taught all grades, Pre-K through 5th. In addition to working with elementary students and teachers, I serve as an Early Childhood Education Instructor at Georgia Northwestern Technical College. I teach evening classes, and I absolutely love what I get to do each day!

I grew up in Rocky Face, Georgia, in an old drafty house that was once a civil war hospital and later, a barn. My sister and I shared a bedroom. Our bathroom was so cold that our shampoo would freeze into a solid block during the winter nights! My family did not have a lot of money, but my mom taught me to work hard so that I could go to college and have a successful career. She wanted life to be easier for me than it had been for her. I paid attention! I dedicated myself to making good grades and getting a college scholarship. I also got a job at age 15 so that I could pay for school lunches and buy myself a car. I worked my way through college and started teaching in 2001. I then took classes at night to earn my Master of Arts degree. After that, I began my Education Doctoral program which took 4 years to complete. I am so thankful that my mom taught me the values of determination and hard work. I believe that pure GRIT can help people overcome difficult circumstances to achieve their dreams. I love helping others reach goals and experience success!

Outside of school, I have enjoyed traveling to different places as a short-term missionary. I've served in Kenya, Uganda, Jamaica, The Netherlands, and Hungary. I currently live in Ringgold, Georgia, with my precious husband Daniel and our spoiled rotten pets. Our dog Rocket is 15 years old. We are crazy about him even though he sheds his black fur everywhere and walks all over us when we are trying to sleep! (He is a 60 pound dog). Our cat Donnie is 4 years old and looks adorable when he stretches out on his back to get a tummy rub. Daniel and I love to spend time with our 6 nieces and 3 nephews, plus many more children who call us Aunt Carrie and Uncle Daniel. We enjoy our life together, and are thankful to the Lord for how He has blessed us.
