All children younger than 18 can get a free lunch on weekdays this summer.

The goal of the USDA Seamless Summer Nutrition Program is to provide free meals and snacks to all children under the age of 18. Staff from Whitfield County Schools will provide the first free meals of summer starting on Monday, June 5, and continuing through Friday, July 27.

Whitfield County families struggling to make ends meet may take advantage of the federally-funded summer feeding program to provide free healthy meals for their children. Meals are served Monday through Friday between 11:15 a.m. and 12:40 p.m., depending on the site. Please contact your area’s primary site contact, listed below, for exact serving times.

The community program is completely funded by the United State Department of Agriculture. No local tax dollars supplement the program and there is no additional tax burden on the local school systems or community.

Sites include church buildings, community centers, playgrounds, apartment complexes, parks and other areas where children gather in the summer.
